Welcome to the world of chess in Cockermouth.

Cockermouth chess club offers a range of activities for all levels:
- friendly games in evening chess,
- coaching for juniors and novices,
- internal tournaments,
- individual championships,
- team competitions.

Every Monday evening from 7:30 onwards, evening chess is organised at the
Swan inn, 56 Kirkgate. Everyone, beginner or confirmed player, is welcome to
the club on our evenings.

No fees are requested for friendly games or for coaching. A membership fee of £15 per year (£7 for junior members) is charged to the members. Further details can be obtained by contacting us by e-mail.

Following the flooding of Cockermouth in November 2009 and the subsequent closure of the Globe Hotel, our league games are currently organised at the Papcastle Village Hall, in Papcastle, on Saturday or Sunday.

Club championship can be played on the Monday evening chess. The time control is 61 minutes for the game. The participation to this championship requires a full membership of the club.
