Cockermouth Chess Club
Welcome to the world of chess in Cockermouth.
Cockermouth chess club offers a range of activities for all levels:
- friendly games in evening chess,
- coaching for juniors and novices,
- internal tournaments,
- individual championships,
- team competitions.
Evening chess are organised at the Kingfisher inn, 14 Crown Street, every Monday evening from 7:30 onwards. Club evenings stop in the summer inter-season, from the end of May to the first Monday of September. Everyone, beginner or confirmed player, is welcome to the club on our evenings.
No fees are requested for friendly games or for coaching. A membership fee of £10 per year (£5 for junior members) is charged to the members. Further details can be obtained by contacting us by e-mail.
Our league games are usually organised at the Globe Hotel, main street, on Saturday or Sunday.
Club championship can be played on the Monday evening chess. The time control is 50 minutes for the game. The participation to this championship requires a full membership of the club.
